Listening closely as the pair of them continued to move, Gabriel was suddenly struck by the thought that Eden might not be the age he appeared. It ought to have occurred to him sooner, given the deceptive appearances of others within the Cirque, yet it was only now as Eden spoke of these kids that the thought crossed his mind. "You sound like a grandpa," he said shamelessly, pulling back a little to look at Eden's face. "You're not, are you? I mean, it's fine if you are. Guess it's kinda becoming my thing to step out with older guys..."
But then Gabe was distracted again by Eden's comment, a light laugh passing from him at the compliment. "That's because you haven't seen me first thing in the morning," he said, playfully baring his teeth and crinkling his nose. "I can be a real monster."
