Ciaran was vaguely aware that they were stood in the middle of the most public spot on the circus grounds, yet he couldn't force himself to move. The sounds around him were distorted, everything other than himself and Abraham fading away into the background. It wasn't entirely different from how things used to be, whenever the other man had walked into a crowded room and Ciaran hadn't been able to look anywhere else. Yet now, the adoration and love he had once felt were being overpowered by shock and a lifetime's worth of locked away hurt.
The sudden touch to his cheeks from fingers that were colder than ice caused Ciaran to suck in a sharp breath of surprise. The chill made him shiver, his eyes widening further still as he watched Abraham brush them away while apologising. The sound of the other man's voice, so close and so clear, caused another wave of tears to spill from his eyes, though he was quick to bring his own hand up to wipe them away this time. "Don't," he whispered, shaking his head slightly. "I don't want to hear that from you."
Taking a few moments to compose himself, Ciaran took a shaky breath before forcing himself to look at Abraham. He looked the same as the last time Ciaran had seen him, the night before he had left. They'd had dinner together, Ciaran chattering on cluelessly about something he had long since forgotten, unaware that their lives were to diverge a few short hours later. But now, through some miracle that he didn't want to give too much thought to, they had found one another again. Or rather, Abraham had found him. It was almost too much to comprehend. Yet before he could think about anything else, Ciaran's body reacted on instinct and he stepped forwards, both arms wrapping tightly around Abraham - or what was left of him - as he pressed in close despite the persistent chill that was radiating from him.
"God damn you, Abraham Dewitt," he muttered, voice breaking as he buried his face into the other man's neck while clinging to him so tightly that, if he were alive, it might have very well killed him. "I thought I'd lost you. I..."
