By the time Mona took a sip from her glass, Kit had already finished his. Stronger alcohol barely had an effect on him since he'd been turned, meaning that the champagne hadn't even touched him, yet he refrained from reaching for another. Instead he let one hand come to settle gently on Mona's lower back as he moved in a little closer, hoping for a sliver of intimate privacy in the crowded room.
A foreign feeling occurred within Kit's stomach at Mona's words, a light fluttering he hadn't felt before. If he were with anyone else, he would be alarmed. Yet knowing that the reaction was due to Mona's words stopped him from questioning the sensation. It wasn't unpleasant, even if it was strange. "Are you suggesting I'm not always so?" he teased, ducking down a little to bridge their height gap. "But, all jokes aside, thank you. I think it's emphasised by the beautiful lady at my side."
