"There were decorations on the trees outside, too. The only things that escaped were the palms." Elia's tone was amused, sort of fond – there were some things about her childhood that she could laugh at, like her mother's over-the-top decorations. As long as she only thought about that piece, and not the rest of the holiday season all together, it was funny. She could forget feeling left out, the differences in gifts between herself and her siblings.
Issac dropping into her lap stopped her before she could follow those thoughts out, and she grinned down at him, brushing her fingers affectionately through his hair. "I don't think I want a tree growing in my trailer all year. Maybe in yours? But we can definitely make it as unicorn-y as you want."
