Ivarr had a post-Moving Day routine that he kept to and very little could distract him from it. At just after midnight, he would poke his head out of his trailer to investigate the feel of the air, the scents that wafted toward him, the temperature of it. Much to his delight, the temperature was much cooler and he took a deep breath of it. Sweat still on his brow from the infernal heat of Thailand seemed to melt away immediately. He smiled, wide and toothy, even though there was no one there to see it.
Slipping out of one of his robes, he stepped outside, his nudity in human form not lasting long as quick as he was to shift into the stallion with the glistening black coat. It was time to find the stables and check in on his herd, see if all were well after the move. The best way to do that, and be able to communicate with them, was to do it as one of them. They were used to it by now. Used to being around the horse that could tear them to pieces if he wanted to.
Paradox knew something was wrong the moment he found the stables and discovered discarded clothing on the floor. He pawed at the clothes angrily, snorting loudly at them, picking up the scent off of them and following it deeper into the stabling. Keeping his steps slow and deliberate, he stalked down the aisleway until he came to the previously empty stall, which now housed an unfamiliar mare. A low rumble came from somewhere deep inside of him, reminiscent of distant thunder. He blocked the doorway with his huge frame, easily cutting off any form of escape. For the moment, his ears were pricked forward as his nostrils flared, taking deep breaths in an attempt to understand who she was. From what he could see, she was nothing special. Just a small chestnut, nothing like his River.
His interest didn't last long, a stab of anger replacing it. She had gotten in without asking him. Tried to claim a stall among his herd without asking him. His ears flattened back, teeth bared, and he lunged forward, latching onto her withers with his teeth, not hard enough to break the skin but certainly enough to both hurt and scare her - and warn her, immediately establishing his dominance.
