It had been a little over two weeks since Gabriel had signed his contract to work and travel with the circus, and it was only now that he was at last beginning to find his footing. Each night within the Seance Tent was different, the continuously revolving group of people entering the space bringing forth different spirits for him to channel. There had been laughter, there had been tears, and there had been all manner of things in between to ensure that there was never a dull moment. He was continually learning, each evening bringing with it new challenges to overcome and fresh experiences that would only serve to better him as time progressed. There were things that weren't ideal, sure, but life wasn't designed to be perfect. The positives far outweighed the negatives and, in short, he couldn't have been happier.
Having taken a break from the Seance Tent in order to grab something quick to eat and spend a little time winding down before throwing himself back into work, Gabriel wandered aimlessly through the crowds of patrons that flooded the circus during its final night in Chiang Rai. He stood out like a sore thumb, blond and light-eyed around a head taller than most. It meant that he was able to move through the throng with ease, his attention flittering about erratically as he attempted to take in all there was to see. Even now, he was still in awe of the Cirque and all it offered.
The Big Top was a circus staple, yet it had taken Gabriel this long to pop inside and catch the final few minutes of the performances before it drew to a close. It was everything that one would expect, though there were many things that were unique to the Cirque that only those in the know were aware of. He watched from near the entrance, every bit as mesmerised as the crowds around him at the feats displayed by his fellow performers. He was able to pick out one or two new faces amongst the seasoned regulars occupying the floor, paying particular attention to and cheering the loudest for them as they wowed their audience. It was with disappointment that he watched the Ringmaster bring an end to the proceedings, yet he was reassured by the knowledge that he could drop by whenever he wanted to.
Finally turning to leave once the majority of the audience had dispersed, Gabriel distractedly pulled his phone from his pocket to belatedly ask the other occupants of the Seance Tent whether they wanted him to bring them anything back when he bumped into something warm and solid; a person. "Sorry!" he immediately exclaimed, giving the man a quick once-over. "I'm such a gronk sometimes."
