Flattery was something Khepri was rarely the recipient of and the man's heavy-handed compliments were amusing to her. Though she was pleased to be complimented, she was not so easily blinded by them. Her snake companion hissed something that was a laugh to her ears and Khepri mockingly shushed it with a smirk on her face. “Iah is pleased, it means. Fitting for the Egyptian cobra as they are nocturnal.”
“A pleasure, Eden,” Khepri replied with a smile which was broken open by a laugh at the epithet. Ahhotep reeled back, regarding her with a tilt of its head before looking back at Eden. “Khepri is what I call myself, though I would not hate Amazing Cobra lady.” She neglected to say how fitting of an epithet it was, preferring to keep that little joke to herself.
Absently petting the head of the cobra, Khepri regarded Eden, attempting to discern exactly what he might be. Of all things, Khepri knew he wasn’t human, the smell was wrong and she could taste it on her tongue. Her senses were keener for more ancient things, but she was confident if given enough time, she would be able to figure it out. In the meantime, she could engage in pointless small talk others seemed so fond of. “Do you work inside the tent? Or do you simply like to stalk the entrance to try to knock others over as a conversation start?”
