This was all so new to him.
The music was still too loud, the scents all overwhelming. That would alleviate soon as things usually did.
Humans smelled the strangest. They were tempting; the curse was strong in spite of all of the training in the line, all of the preventative measures taken by his ancestors the urge to eat humans was still there. That part of him would always be there no matter what and the screams caught his ears, which twitched in response, rotating around to meet each sound.
Padding softly toward the lagoon the lion went. It was attracted by the sound of the water, the refreshing scent. It peered over the lip of the water and lowered it’s head down sniffing at the liquid. It’s eyes searched the rippling moisture, looking for the source of the aroma that was invading it’s senses. Something it’d never experienced before. Behind it were more screams. It’s tail swished back and forth but it’s attention never wained from the task at hand.
A paw dipped into the water, testing it. Nothing dangerous seemed to be lurking in the depths and so as it’s paw met the ground the lion leaned forward and began to lap eagerly at the refreshing water. It’s large, heavy muscles relaxed. The hair at the bottom of it’s mane drifted into the water as it drank.
When it was done the lion pulled back and lifted it’s head. It shook, tossing it’s mane from side to side slinging water on any that lingered without a second thought. And then it sat. The large, wildcat settled down at the edge of the lagoon and for once since it’s arrival it felt at peace.
