Chandra disappeared and Eric thought nothing of it, waiting patiently and turning dark eyes to the rest of Chandra's trailer, taking in the little accents here and there, the signs of humanity - even magical humanity was still humanity - that were foreign to Eric. Chandra came back soon enough, though, and Eric flashed him a smile. There wasn't much he wouldn't put up with for a new experience and Chandra ducking out to write something down wasn't a big deal. It gave Eric time to ponder things, and, when Chandra spoke again, Eric was still pondering.
Coming ashore had been necessary, Eric thought. He'd needed to find his cousin, now named Finnerty, and had been willing to spend years out of the water in order to make sure she was safe. He had a daughter, even, who had spent time out of the water, but she always came back. Finnerty hadn't. Eric would, he knew, but he had made so many friends already, had had so many new experiences, that the call of land was now something he understood.
"That is long." Eric said as, once the pink had been finished, Chandra moved onto the blue. That one, it seemed, was easier, and Chandra got it right within moments, Eric nodding once it had reached the desired hue. "Well, is short in my reckoning, but long when it comes to ink on a body." Now that the pigments had been mixed, Eric extended his arm, holding it steady and peering down so he could watch the process. "I will probably want it touched up, yes." He said thoughtfully. "Am still not sure about permanent, but I am having the feeling I will like the sight of it."
