Although the trip had been a short one, it had still taken long enough for Kit to get some colour. The sun was high in the sky and unhindered by cloud, meaning that the exposure his flesh had endured during the moderately paced journey was plain to see. It wasn't too bad, though he was a little red in the cheeks and across the bridge of his nose, as well as his exposed arms. It was a minor annoyance, not enough to cause damage, and so Kit said nothing about it.
Glancing down at Mona as she asked her question, Kit wrinkled his nose in distaste as he walked her over to the nearest cot. "I thought you read good vampire stories," he said, setting her down gently before perching on the edge of the bed. "No, I don't sparkle. I burn, like all big bad soulless vampires should do in the sunlight."
