There are a lot of groups around here but most lean heavily toward 'organized religion' as far as I define such. I'm solitary for a reason; nothing wrong with circles or covens but I prefer to go straight to the source.
About 2 years ago several of us 'solitares' used to meet up just for mundane chitchat and such; it was fun while it lasted but jobs and other obligations got in the way. I still keep in touch with a couple of folks from those meetings. My closest friends include two bona fide Ceremonialists, another hedge witch (like me) and her husband (a true eclectic with Norse trad leanings but is very open minded), my best friend in Maine who is solitary as well and incorporates much of the same mileau as I do in our 'kitchen witchery' and my husband. He was dedicated to Thor and Freyja (he was living with a Wiccan HP when we met and I was NOT the cause of the break up, thank you!) but began investigating Northern and Southern Plains Indian ACTUAL traditions after he saw me doing the same with Lakotah trads. We both watch where we tread here. I'm descended from Irish, Pennsylvania Dutch, and Cherokee (1/16th); like many of my generation, I was taught that there was nothing to be proud of by being Indian. My cousin and I are trying to find our great-great grandmother's name so we can find the roll number...if there is one. As far as the Northern and Southern Plains tribes are concerned, my first husband was half blood Wichita so I have some knowledge of some tribal practices if the tribe was SP. We aren't wannabees. I don't make many claims to be Cherokee; I'm waiting until we find that roll number, if there is one.
Blessings to you all./rootworker
If you walked through our house you'd think that a couple of Native Americans who were Catholic live here. Until you get to the dining room and see all those Thomas Kinkade mugs!
