John grinned at her when she laughed. He liked the sound of her laugh.
He looked at her when she said she hadn't been sleeping well. He could understand that. They were in a totally strange place with no guarantee that a Wraith or something else evil didn't show up at any second.
When she spoke again he grinned. Even if she didn't want to stroke his ego she still did.
"How about you stay here tonight. Maybe you can sleep better then", he suggested. He probably would. Her room might be right next door, but if something would attack her he could still be too late. Knowing she was right beside him would make him feel better.
Hearing her question John frowned. He had tried hard not to think about that. There was a part of him that would rather stay here with her. But they were needed back home. They couldn't just stay here and abandon their people without even trying to get home.
When she went on John laughed slightly at her words. "I'd like to hear you say that", he said with a cheeky grin. Then he turned serious.
"I don't know what's going to happen when we get home", he admitted. "I still don't know if we even can get home before that war. And if we go home, maybe we are from the same reality. Who knows? Maybe you just didn't say anything about what happened here, because you knew I wouldn't yet know about it", he said. But he wasn't sure if that could be the case. The Jennifer from his reality didn't go missing for days. He'd know if she had. The only way she could be from his reality would be if she returned to exactly the same point in time she came from. Was that possible?
John sighed. The possibility that they would be able to be together once they went home seemed rather slim. He hated the thought, but he wasn't willing to admit it.
"I wouldn't have you restrained", he then said. "Not for saying something like that.... Mind blowing sex." He grinned, liking the sound of that.
