Jack moved a little. His eyelids fluttered but then he got still again for a few seconds. A sense of confusion greeted him as his consciousness stirred. The sound of his blood pounded through his veins, especially inside his head. He moaned, raising a shakey hand to the side of his head, where something warm and sticky matted down his short hair.
Instinct told him he wasn't alone. His eyes opened but the view was fuzzy and someone leaning over him was in silhouette against a light somewhere beyond.
"Suzie?" he uttered, blinking. His head throbbed. "Gw-- Gwen?" The man groaned as he struggled to sit up.
