Laurel drew in a breath as Matt reassured her that she didn't deserve what had happened to her. He couldn't possibly know that in her darkest moments, she'd wondered if she was the reason that everyone in her life seemed to leave at some point in time. And maybe that voice wasn't quelled by the reassurances of a guy that she'd just met, but it was a comforting thing to hear in this moment.
She took another sip of her tea as well.
"I like flowers. It's not much, but I have a little windowsill garden back home. And that... was probably a pretty trivial thing to share, huh? What about you? Tell me something good, please."
