Laurel laughed softly at Matt's broad job description.
"I think I understand. I used to work for a non-profit firm and we just sort of did whatever was needed." And now she really tried not to sound too wistful. She'd put years of her life into CNRI, and it had always seemed more worthwhile than anything else. Working for the DA's office was important too, but there were more politics and... it just wasn't the same.
Not to mention that she still felt an ache at remembering watching the building go down with Tommy inside.
She pulled herself out of that reverie as Matt brought up the tea. She smiled softly at him. It was clear that he realized that they needed a lighter topic.
She took a sip of the tea and then tried a bite of the cake.
"Not a bad pairing at all. So are you normally a tea connoisseur? Or is today a special day?" she joked lightly.
