Apart from an encounter with a foul-mouthed elf, the Baron had thus far been keeping to himself. Like Me, he had been subtly watching the other passengers, wondering where they might fit into the constant mechanisms whirling in his head.
For, even far from his home, the Baron was determined to gain what advantages he could, and set himself up in a good position upon this train. Which to him meant one of comfort, and one of perceived- even if not actual- power. And this required understanding the social gears that were already in place, and finding those who would be most advantageous to establish his own alliances with.
He'd also been exploring the physical aspects of the place, despite the miserably cramped passageways. His favorite discovery thus far was the unusual behavior of a key he'd found in his quarters- which he intended to take full advantage of- but such was a key to solitude, rather than social discovery. Thus, he was sitting in Étoile du Nord, sipping on a glass of brandy that quite surpassed his expectations, while hoping to encounter an interesting conversation.
The hand which did not hold his brandy glass tapped at the cover of an Orange Catholic Bible resting on an end table beside his loveseat. It was closed, as he had no reason to read it. He was already overly familiar with this text, the single representation of writing from his own place of origin that he had found among the bar's strangely varied collection. It represented a bit of home, and thus, he intended to keep it for himself. The motion of his fingers followed a repetitive pattern, and did not cease as the young woman left her seat and walked up to him. Thankfully she did not have any tablecloth-wrapped creatures with her, which currently cast her in a rather favorable light.
He turned his attention from the ocean view outside the window at her greeting, and gave her a polite smile, replying in his rumbling basso of a voice. "Ahhh, and who might you be, young lady? A fine day, is it not?" He lifted his hand from the book and indicated a nearby seat. "Sit, and speak with me. I would enjoy some company."
