new camera!
I inherited a fancy-pants SLR camera from a friend who was upgrading, and I admit I find the thing very intimidating! Still, I'm hoping to sort the front end from the back end of it with a little practice. I've only ever owned one digital camera (which is slowly dying and wasn't great to start) so something this complex is a challenge. I just got a cable so I can get the pictures directly onto the computer, so here are my first test pics of the dolls.
I don't normally shoot the dolls just as they sit around on display, usually because they're not arranged to look fancy or anything and the pictures so often come out badly, but these were my first tries with my new toy.
After that, for a trial I thought I'd shoot Diderot as he was a recipe for photo-fail with the old camera: black hair, black clothes, sleepy-eyed, white resin, and sitting on our dark coverlet. The non-flash photos were blurry and yellowed (I can't sort out how to set the exposure and make any adjustments to the white balance) but some of the flash ones came out beautifully.
Yay! New shiny camera! :D I'm not sure how I'll work with it for photostories, as I'm so often up the noses of the dolls for that, and I have to learn to shoot old-school through the viewfinder again (it's digital, but for display and not for shooting). I'm still working out the best settings and zoom and all. But historically I haven't been able to shoot the dolls after sunset in the bedroom at all, and never with flash! Hopefully once I have the hang of the thing I won't have to take 2348234 pictures just in the hopes of getting one that's just right.
