Emerson had to admit that he hadn't been expecting that, but it didn't shock him. Lucien spoke higher of Nate than he'd ever heard the kid speak about anybody before, and it was becoming fairly apparent that it wasn't just a load of bullshit either.
"We can work something out," he said evenly. He would've just given Nate the money, but he assumed Lucien's slave wanted to earn it in some way, making the gift more special. "If you don't mind doing some errands for me while you're in town, I'd consider us square. You have any ideas yet?"
