The auctioneer wasn't saying a word, but his double chin seemed to droop open, as he acknowledged each bid. There were often slight bidding wars, but twenty five hundred was nearly unheard of, for an untrained slave, who wouldn't even part her legs on command. Damon, meanwhile, was fuming. The amount was still small, compared to what he had available, but he just knew that Eterna had no real interest in the girl at all.
"I'm surprised, Eterna," he said shortly. "I had heard you weren't too keen on taking in slaves who were younger and prettier than you. Too much competition."
He waved over a rise in bid to the auctioneer.
"Two thousand, seven hundred and fifty," he said, with determination, but reluctance.
