It was through sheer chance that Alice's eyes eventually lifted; she'd completed her invisible painting and thus had to look for something else to occupy her attention. Her reaction to Scott and a few of the other Masters lingering about her pen was not exactly what one might expect, and later she would surely remember that it wasn't proper.
She knelt there, looking straight at him with a curiosity in her eyes and seemingly without an ounce of fear. She remained kneeling on the ground, waiting for him to say something if he would at all.
