In a way, Morgan could empathize with River. When he had been younger, he had struggled to cope with the barrage of other people's thoughts. When he was among his own kind, it was different. Everyone could hear everyone in Faery, and there was no attempt (or opportunity) to hide anything. Humans hid so much, that their minds were always ablaze with unsaid thoughts. It could be overwhelming. If she was hearing voices, even if they weren't real... he couldn't imagine what it was like.
Morgan stiffened slightly, when River mentioned the kiss. It was yet another example of a time when he thought he had kept information from his slaves, but had been wrong. They did live in close quarters, and sometimes he forgot just how on top of each other they were.
"It's okay, hunny," he said, stepping toward River and placing a hand on her shoulder. Normally he would have had the girl in a tight hug by now, but he was still unsure with River. He needed to give her the chance to pull away, if that was what she needed.
