The cabin was further back behind the tree line than Damon had realized. By the time they reached it, the snow was up to mid thigh, slowing him significantly. Luckily, the door opened inward, and one good jolt from his hip opened it for them. Although it was currently abandoned, Damon could tell that it had been kept up well. There were canned goods lining open shelves, and a small amount of wood by the cold fireplace.
"Get inside and find yourself something to wrap up in," he told Elena, spying a heavy quilt on the only bed.
"I need to bring some more wood in, before the snow gets any worse."
