Buffy jumped when the door was slammed, and she instantly felt even more afraid of dealing with this aftermath of her mistake than she did in confronting Lucius in the first place. What made it worse was that Ambrose seemed to believe that she'd done more than confront the other man.
"I-I messed up, I know," she started in an uncharacteristically small voice. "But not the way that you think I did. We talked, and we fought. That's it. I needed to sleep because I was hurt. I didn't sleep with him. I may have made one of the worst decisions ever, but you have to know that I wouldn't do that. Yell at me. I deserve it, but don't accuse me of something I didn't do."
