Who: Carrick and Leo Where: The woods near Leo's home When: Week 5 - Friday evening Why: Warning: none yet
Carrick had spent the first few couple of hours of the evening in town browsing first the riding gear at the local sports outfitters nd then the shelves of one of his favourite antique bookshops. Being vampire-run, the latter store kept late hours.
Ambling back through Crescent Hill's shopping district, the vampire caught sight of a tall, heavily muscled man with thick blond hair. Since his unexpected dalliance earlier in the week with one of the newest members of Crescent Hills' Supernatural community, Carrick had become quite partial to muscles. His gaze swept the man's wide shoulders and muscular back appreciatively, but it wasn't until the man turned around that Carrick realised who it was.
He had never met the man of course, but on another level entirely, Carrick felt that he already knew him. The vampire had followed the illegal underground slave fights for years, and over the course of the last century had won and lost thousands of pounds on the battles that raged in deserted warehouses and cellars across the UK.
The man on the other side of the road was the fighter known only as Leo, and as far as Carrick knew, he was possibly the only undefeated gladiatorial champion of the 21st century. Carrick had never seen him fight in person but he had watched streamed and encrypted videos online of every one of his fights. He was magnificent; his raw, animal power combined with a catlike finesse. He had known that Leo was a native of Colorado, but he'd had no idea that Leo might actually be a neighbour of his. He decided to follow him and find out.
Carrick deliberately slowed his pace, gazing into shop windows as he passed, tracking the werelion out of the corner of one eye. Knowing how easily a mountain lion could sense other predators in its territory, he cloaked himself in silence, hanging back as far as he could without losing sight of the other man. As he followed the former fighter out of Crescent Hills, he turned over an idea in his mind, He'd been thinking about it for some time, but if Leo really was living locally, it made perfect sense to approach him about it. Leo was, regrettably, a free man now and was fully within his rights to refuse Carrick's offer, but the vampire hoped that the werelion would be keen to talk business.
Weaving in between the shadows and running with a silent tread, Carrick followed Leo out of town and into the thick forest that surrounded the town. He easily kept pace, appearing only as a flicker of movement and a flash of pale skin in the darkness. He was feeling pleasantly energised by the time Leo arrived back at what was presumably his house.
Carrick waited until the werelion was about to enter the building before he spoke from a couple of yards behind him.
