"I'm not sure he cares all that much about that, but who knows? I'm apparently the Queen of Misreading All the Things," she muttered as she set the glass down on the end table next to the bed.
She looked back at Evie when she continued. So she'd heard everything then. At least the parts near the end that were clearly eating at her. Buffy wanted to tell her that it wasn't as big of a deal, but she couldn't lie and pretend she wouldn't have reacted in a similar way had the shoe been on the other foot.
"You know about the Slayer thing. You heard us talking about it. I'll recover more quickly. It's best for everybody," she tried to reason with the other girl. "Ambrose wouldn't let it happen, but until I can get you out of here, it's the least sucky option for everybody."
