As Isaac relaxed, Derek relaxed, and so it went, a strange feedback loop of calm and warmth. In some ways, he felt disingenuous, like he was taking advantage of Isaac for his own pleasure when they laid on each other like this. He placed it under the label of 'pack' but it wasn't as if he did this with Scott. Then again, he didn't trust Scott like he trusted Isaac. Isaac was family; family he'd thought lost and had found again, and though he wanted to see the wolf free and happy, he also revolted at the very thought of having Isaac leave.
"I can give him that, at least," he said quietly. "Space, and time." He could rationalize this in thinking that it was better the human was here and being cared for than elsewhere and in constant danger.
