"Don't you get it? That's what I was doing before I came here. It's what I was meant to do. I mean, admittedly there were more scouting parties than demons, but I've handled some of the lesser ones before," Buffy replied, sort of stubbornly defending her capabilities even though that probably wasn't much the point. She shook her head, looking back up into his eyes as his hands rested on her shoulders.
"I love you, and maybe I could stand to be a little more careful. But you have to believe in me. I know you love me, and I know you're worried about me," she tried to plead, hoping she could make him understand. "Please trust me that I can handle this, though."
