Alice watched him as he left, not answering him outright but nodding as she reached for the soap. She'd nearly forgotten about the smell she needed to scrub away. Sitting in the bath tub, she took the bar of soap and scrubbed until her skin was a red flush. She thought it would be best to just jump out right then and there, but it was impossible to ignore the lull of the water. She closed her eyes and drew her knees back up to her chest, just listening and letting herself be immersed for the moment.
Five minutes went by until she remembered she was supposed to be somewhere. Reluctantly, the girl stepped out of the bath tub and stepped onto the floor. She dried her hair and body thoroughly, seeking out the slip of a dress she'd worn at the auction. Pulling it over her head, she stepped out of the bathroom, looking for Scott.
