Carrick was pleased to see Liam immediately go after his sword. A lesser slave would have capitulated then and there, or begged to be allowed to stop. Liam had pushed himself as far as his body would let him go, and further. Even Carrick himself was feeling a slight ache in his sword arm and an unfamiliar burn in his muscles, combined with s a slight dizziness from the vervain entering his bloodstream. His heart did not beat, but if it had done, it would be racing.
He walked over to where Liam had collapsed, and was even now trying to retrieve his weapon and stand.
"Enough," he said softly, standing over Liam's prone form. "You've done well. I'm proud of you."
