He did his best not to be distracted by the was she stretched out on his bed, or the teasing comment about "playing a little rougher", but he nevertheless stepped closer and sat down on the edge of the bed himself.
"I've been Lord Carrick for about... oh, a century," he remarked. "I changed it not long after you moved out. Gilles de Montparnasse was a good enough name, but after a couple of months in Ireland being referred to as 'Gill' I went looking for a new one. I'm not even sure where 'Carrick' came from. I think I just picked it off a map."
