Buffy had to exert all of her willpower and strength of self to not lunge past Ambrose and deck whatever his name was now, especially with that comment about the spanking and its relevance to very recent events. Were she not so angry and hurt and confused, she might've blushed.
It was Ambrose who actually came in as her voice of reason. She closed her eyes, taking several very deep breaths before she opened them again, still glaring at Lucius. He was colder. He sounded so much colder, even when he teased her.
"I decided I wanted to take a little vacation here," she replied with her usual biting sarcasm. "You know, since the locals are so nice and all that." She had to remember Ambrose again. The store was probably the worst place for an honest conversation.
The other girl's comment made her smile slightly as she couldn't help but add on a little bit more. "Well, apparently now he's the villain of some sort of science fiction novel."
