Re: The Bar - Rajani and Magnus
Magnus was silent a moment, considering what lay behind and between Janie's optimistic words. The ones with bruises behind their smiles had always pulled at him - he'd always wanted to make their smiles real, smooth the hurts away any way he could. Janie tugged on those same instincts, and Magnus stared at his glass as he formulated his thoughts.
"There's only two really important things I've learned," he said finally, "in all my centuries. One: the world will never stop surprising you. And two - " His gold eyes flicked up to meet Rajani's. "We should learn from the past, but not live in it, or allow it to hold us. So I will drink to your sentiment, fair lady, because I agree completely."
He raised his glass as if in toast, and then drained it.
"Would Maia be very annoyed with me, do you think," he asked, setting the empty glass back on the bar, "if I were to kiss you?"
