Allison apparently had a pretty long history dealing with this business. She seemed to come from a family of hunters, and Buffy guessed that was the closest thing she could relate to what she did without giving it all away. The life that she spoke of... It was hard, harder than a lot of things, but the feeling of having that freedom to chose it was something she'd wanted for humanity since before becoming what she was now.
"My camp, home," she recalled. She paused to swallow a bite of food and take a sip of wine. "It wasn't super high tech. I know you hear sometimes about places that actually get some devices and that sort of thing and rig them to work, but ours was pretty simple. They had it working to be like real community with meals and all kinds of things. My mom was actually a nurse. She assisted one of the doctors that we had there. I don't think they ever considered me bright enough to follow in those footsteps, though. I was being trained. To be the- a hunter. I was gonna be a hunter myself."
