Buffy was glad to see that Allison seemed to be cheering up at the idea of getting to practice more. Maybe that would be something that would be able to keep her grounded to herself. She worried about what Allison had to go through with Eterna, and she worried that the girl would end up losing herself in the process of it or becoming something Eterna made her feel like she had to be.
"Fine, fine. No furniture death. I've already got what I wanted out of the coffee table anyway," she said with a joking roll of her eyes. "But it's fine. Arrows will work just fine for training purposes."
When Ambrose talked about the slave trade, she piped down and listened attentively with great interest. She knew of course that he was probably talking about himself, but she'd oddly enough never spoken to him about the details of his efforts to free the slaves that wanted it badly enough. There were a lot that were accustomed to their lives in captivity, and she hadn't often stopped to think that freedom could be a hard reality for them. It raised a lot of questions and uncertainties about what she herself wanted to do for the the people enslaved here.
