The clashing of the swords made Liam's heart race with exhilaration. He missed sparring with swords far too much and was more than happy to be given this opportunity now. He immediately ducked down and slashed at his master's legs, which was also easily dodged. He kept on trying nevertheless, falling into old habits and swinging the sword at Carrick rather than thrusting. The vampire's ease in dodging and parrying his strikes should have been aggravating, but Liam saw this as an opportunity to improve his speed and stamina.
He didn't quite understand what Carrick said, but nevertheless attempted to be less predictable by trying not to think too much about how to move and where to strike. He soon grew tired and was panting, his muscles not used to such an intensive training, and having put all his energy into really trying to at least create an opening on his master.
