Zoro could sense the banging of the Slave's heart in his chest, and had to suppress his own predator's instinct to chase prey. But Alphas had great force of will, and Zoro more than some other Alphas. He stared back at the boy for a few moments from his partially-turned face, studying his reaction.
Then the man shook out his head, more or less clearing his senses, and his unnatural features eased back into his seemingly human face. "You've had some kind of martial training," the swordsman stated, rather than asked. The way the Human had rallied himself despite being terrified, attempting to find a better position but holding his ground, he was sure of it. It wasn't a natural Human response; that kind of thing took conditioning.
