"I can disturb you and not be anywhere near you," Hermes pointed out quietly. He curled his fingers around Carrick's hand anyway, taking what comfort he could as he tucked both his legs up and considered curling against him here instead.
"Waiting for the other shoe to drop," he replied after a moment of seriously considering his words. "At first I was sure you were just going to whip me to hell and back and then I kinda thought you were working out the best way to kill me and then I woke up today and was totally sure I wasn't going to see tomorrow if I couldn't find some dye to fix this before you saw me again."
