Samandriel wasn't going to argue with Carrick's assessment of what he was. It might've been what he was made to be, but he didn't have to say that.
When Carrick finally eased out of the memory he'd landed on, Samandriel was smiling softly at him still, sad at the corners. "There is the humanity you've forgotten about, Helios," he said softly, "all of it if you care to look, right up until you were taken from her and set on the path that brought you here, to me." He sat up, one hand covering Carrick's for as long as the vampire would allow. "Though soon your path should take you home and there is a god of travelers the next room over who will gladly walk by your side for as long as you'll have him."
