"You were born into this, you wouldn't understand." She shrugged, looking away. She knew that he didn't understand, really and truly, and she knew Derek was right... But she still blamed him, whether rightly or wrongly. "... We were supposed to be together. Just me and him. And then this place screwed that up for us and he bought you, and suddenly, he wouldn't have just been mine any more." She knew they hadn't been together physically, but it didn't mean it wasn't going to happen eventually. "... He doesn't need me when he has you." She shrugged, glancing at him.
"I need Derek, too. Want Derek too. So it's not just you. You're just...a part of it. And even if I didn't want to be with Derek I have to be now, so... I need to get over myself, I know." Why she was opening up to him, she didn't know.
