Re: Bar - AJ & John
A grin and John nodded, giving a shrug, "Alright, alright. You win..." His face dropped the smirk, just a bit as he thought about the reason for the scent. Something he really didn't think on, but obviously knew the moment she mentioned it, "War. It's really the only thing I've ever known. Raised on it, trained on it, fought in it and lived it. I imagine that's why I secrete gunpowder. I've killed, and I've killed a lot, and I'm very good at it."
Turning his brow up as he looked to her, "It kind of defines me. But don't worry, only my enemies." He was a fighter really, knew nothing else. He was well-read, sure, and had at one point been in love, but really the rest of his life was molded by violence. He'd probably find it pathetic if he cared enough to reflect on his own life that much.
Instead he returned to a smirk and nodded, "I suppose that's probably the goal. And no slaves? I figured everyone here who wasn't a slave, owned a slave. But guess that shows what I know--what sort of fun were you looking to have while settling in? And, well, I'm a slave who's only slave by title. The mistress encourages me to socialize, probably to keep me from letting that past of mine become too empowering."
