It hadn't been difficult to follow Alcuin outside, and Derek was concerned but relieved when the blond only got as far as a few steps before he'd apparently collapsed. He considered leaving him to fetch Heather, but he was reluctant to leave the boy alone when he was obviously suffering. He also considered calling out for Isaac, but he didn't want to inadvertently upset Isaac by exposing him to Alcuin while he was like this.
In the end, he decided to follow the slave outside, and crouched next to him, studying him reservedly. Cautious after how badly the boy had reacted to his touch, he said nothing, and just watched, waited patiently for him to calm himself.
