Of all those who could have come to Samandriel's aid, he hadn't expected it to be Carrick. It should have been Mitchell. Not that he wasn't grateful for the help, of course, but it didn't change the fact that he mistrusted it coming from Carrick.
The wolf holding him let go. His arm fell limp, the former angel sparing a wince for the jarring feeling of the movement and the way gravity pulled at him.
That one went to go help his fallen pack member, the fourth going to help the same one up as well. They were clearly bitter over their play being interrupted, but it seemed like all of them had seen enough to know better than to challenge that particular vampire.
Samandriel ought've been more obviously grateful but he couldn't bring himself to do anything but glare almost lethally at Carrick, muscle in his jaw jumping with restrained pain and displeasure.
