“You must be very persuasive,” Alcuin chuckled. It heartened him to know the two of them had such a wonderful friendship together. He had been taught that you could measure the character of a person in part by the people they chose to surround themselves with and the nature of the friendships they maintained. Stiles looked to be a very bright and extroverted young man, full of energy and good humor. His friendship and affection reflected well on both of their masters, although it surprised him a little to discover that the boy's master had been the most outwardly intimidating of the entire pack thus far – but only a little.
“Truly? I would not have guessed as much,” he admitted with a thoughtful quirk of his lips. “But I have known this life long enough to have learned not to judge a book by its cover. I would not have expected Scott to take interest in one such as myself, either.”
Alcuin grinned and leaned in to whisper conspiratorially at the last bit. “Now, that I would never doubt.”
