PJ needed a break from her cupid duties, so she decided to arrange a meeting with her adviser. She wanted to figure out what courses she needed to take the upcoming semester and be reminded of how many credits she had accumulated already. Yes, she was doing this way ahead of time but she needed to think about something other than Ash and everything that was going on. It was making her feel a bit overwhelmed. She wanted to focus on something else for a few minutes and then return to her magical world. Ash was grating on her nerves as her first charge. She hoped she could help him so she could have a new charge, someone she could actually talk to and would listen to her suggestions.
After beaming herself to school she headed to the professor's office. It wasn't a far walk in the least. She didn't beam herself closer to the office because she loved this water fountain that was on her way to the building she was headed for. She arrived just in time, her professor was just opening the door to her office to let herself in. PJ smiled and then the professor noticed her walking towards her.
"Hello Ms. Halliwell. You have great timing. I just got here from my coffee run. Come in! Have a seat dear," Professor Hamilton said as she waved PJ forward.
PJ entered her office then sat down in the nearby chair. She was very fond of this professor because she was kind, insightful and extremely knowledgeable in political science - a subject she would have to take many courses in if she hoped to earn her international relations degree.
"Let me just take a quick look at your degree progress. What's your student ID number?" Professor Hamilton asked. After PJ replied, the professor plugged the number in and examined PJ's progress report carefully. She was silent as she did this and PJ didn't dare say anything for fear of distracting her from the task at hand. All PJ really wanted to know was whether or not she'd be allowed to take this course titled, "Comparative Democracy and Federalism".
Finally the professor nodded her head and replied, "You should be able to take that course as an elective next semester. You're already 30 credits into the program which requires 64 to graduate so you're almost halfway there."
PJ was pleased with this news. "Thank you. You have no idea how happy you've just made me. I truly appreciate your help. Everything you've been telling me has really helped me get through this program. At first I was scared as to what I was going to do with my sociology degree and how I would be able to make it fit. Now it's clicking for me automatically."
"I'm glad I could be of help. I wish I had more students like you. You're really dedicated. You ask questions when you don't understand something and you're always open to learning. Most students come into my courses thinking they know it all especially if they've majored in political science for undergraduate, but they fail to realize that they need to go beyond what they've learned to truly make it in the field."
PJ had to contain herself because she wanted to hug the professor but didn't feel that was appropriate at this point. Perhaps at another time. "I appreciate the time you've taken to meet with me about this. I know it's Summer and that you're teaching a course this month so you have a lot on your plate. Thanks for squeezing me in." With these words she departed from school.
