Summary: Because we enjoy upping the UST between them, the flat-mates who were once lovers end up falling asleep on the couch together at some point. Cue grumblings.
There were two problems with having an enormous, overstuffed wrap-around couch in the flat you shared with your best mate. 1) Sitting on opposite corners just felt wrong, and so they felt compelled to sit somewhere in the middle, close to one another. 2) It was just so god-damn comfortable that it was easy to sink into the cushions and fall asleep. Especially with the lights out and a rather slow-paced film on the television. Charity had been dangerously close to falling asleep since the first night-fall in the film. Any other time, she might have been interested in it -- a film about "fallen" women in Ireland who were sent off to the Magdalene laundries to atone for their sins. The film wasn't necessarily bad -- quite the contrary, it was good -- but it had been a long Monday, and Charity's mind was elsewhere. Charity stretched out as she yawned, not quite aware of Neil's proximity so when her hand brushed his brow and nearly poked him in the eye, what did she did? She certainly didn't apologise to him and keep her hands to herself. Oh, no. She exaggerated her stretch, patting down his cheek and nose and mouth, and nearly shoving her fingers unknowingly up his nose. She was just being an arse. You know, herself. With a big, goofy grin, she ducked her head onto her knees. "I don't know what you're talking about; I never touched you," she said as if he'd accused her of manhandling him. "You're imagining things." |
