Summary: Terry's out for a run, and runs into Roger in a rather awkward situation, given they haven't spoken for more than a month. At least Terry's not crying this time.
Terry woke up early, feeling oddly restless. Ben was at his parents' house since Terry had been working late the night before, and Bob the dog had gone with him. That seemed to be a common occurrence these days. Terry was on the edge of a break through with his newest experiment, and it unfortunately meant he was working past midnight most days. His boss had finally forced him to take the next two days off, but Terry itched to get back to the lab. He knew he'd only be shoved right back out the door if he showed up though, and he missed Ben.
But it was far too early to show up at his parents', even for breakfast. The sun wasn't even fully awake, and the air still had that predawn silence to it. Shaking off the feeling of dissatisfaction, Terry changed into running pants and a black shirt and took off out the door, feeling the crisp morning air hit his cheeks. He fell into a slow-paced jog, stretching muscles sore from disuse and headed for the park.
He always forgot how much he loved running until he was actually running. It was the one time his brain turned itself off, and he could just enjoy the outdoors. Slowly, he began to feel more at ease, less like he was going to explode from lack of things to do. He rounded the corner into the park and picked up speed.
There was another runner ahead, and Terry matched his pace to his. He fell easily into the rhythm, breath coming fast and a light sweat breaking out on his forehead. He was so focused on the act of running, that he didn't notice when the runner in front of him stopped to tie his sneaker, and without being able to stop, Terry tumbled over the crouching figure, hitting the dirt path painfully.
