It had been a long day, the full moon was fast approaching and it had Lavender more on edge than usual - snapping at people and losing her temper just a bit more quickly than most days. She was glad when the work day was finally over, when she could go home for a nice dinner and spend some time with Seamus before going to sleep - she needed the last regular day before she spent the next three nights pacing her flat.
Of course, it seemed when she needed normalcy the most she got just the opposite. Lavender knew something was wrong before she even reached the door of her flat - it smelled wrong, and of course a few more stepped confirmed her suspicions, her door was ajar splintered where it had been broken open.
And for once, Lavender didn't feel strange about her enhanced senses and the certainly kicked into overdrive knowing someone had been in her flat - might still be in her flat.
She probably should have gone to find Seamus, owled the Aurors or something but she couldn't help herself, her senses were peaked and the animal in her mind was coming to the forefront. Cautiously Lavender reached out to push open the door slowly, listening carefully for the sound of anyone in the flat. Stepping over the bits of wood on the floor, Lavender entered the flat, the hairs on her arm and the back of her neck bristled and her upper lip pulled back slightly, she felt more like an animal than she had before as she surveyed the room.
It was a mess, her books were strewn across the floor, pages ripped out here and there, tables overturned, her lamp broken - laying shattered on the floor.
It didn't take her long to realize there wasn't anyone else in the flat, and rather than waiting for someone to leap out at her Lavender went about cataloging what had been broken and taken. Nearly all her jewelry, some of her favorite books, the little jar of coins she kept near the door, were all missing.
Once that was done, Lavender gathered herself together and made her way upstairs to Seamus' flat, letting herself in. She found Seamus sitting on the couch and she just sighed and went to sit in his lap, pressing herself against his chest, feeling how tense she was still and the way that part of her mind was still urging her to do something more.
"My flat." She said quietly, wringing her fingers together. "Someone broke in."
