Mutants have been around for years,
and for a while, they were accepted members of society. Simple products of evolution, certain people were born with gifts that normal humans couldn't begin to fathom being able to accomplish. Most joked about the idea of superheroes and described these abilities as "powers" on the streets. Some, of course, didn't trust this advantage. Regardless, it wasn't abnormal to see somebody on the street corner cooling their glass of lemonade with their hands, or a shop owner doing the work of three men all with his mind. They were your brothers, your sisters, your neighbors, your teachers... They existed, and everyone knew it. America was prospering, life was content for most, and the economy continued to grow.

Then disaster struck.
America became too comfortable with their place as top dog. They became a bullying country, certain that nothing bad would befall them. On the evening of April 05, 2009, a cybernetic attack on the United States took place, wiping out every computer system in the country, and taking over those belonging to the military. Our own bombs attacked us, the economy crashed overnight, and within days America went from super power to third world country. The rich suddenly found themselves dirt poor when the computers recording their monetary earnings erased every cent; business after business went bankrupt. Soon crime was on the rise, and people had to jump through hoops to survive. In the wake of the destruction, a scape goat was needed.

They blamed mutants.
People that used to dine with their mutant neighbor soon started to attack them. Murders became the norm, and with as much chaos as there was, most went ignored. The bad economy made way for crooked cops, the rise of gangs and mafias, and, of course, every scumbag looking for a pay day to run rampant. The U.S. government, determined to build an army and get revenge, and the resources for the most powerful army was just staring them in the face. They began abducting mutants off of the streets to bring them back to a secret division known as Operation X to perform experiments on them. They were looking for ways to boost powers, but more importantly, they needed a way to control the mutants they captured. The danger was fierce, so those with powers took a variety of measures to escape persecution. Some denied what they truly were and attempted to live their lives in the new world as normal humans, hoping to never slip up in front of the wrong person. Others banded together and hid in a mostly ruined part of the country that used to be Manhattan that is rumored to be haunted, radioactive, and all other sorts of crazy superstitions (most created by the mutants living there to keep normal humans away). Still others thrived in the new dog-eat-dog world, using their powers to swindle people out of their money.

In 2020, it gets worse.
All things prior to 2009 have been eradicated from the computers, but the country slowly starts to rebuild. Eventually, people start to figure out how to survive almost normally. Computers are relied upon less, new jobs are created to take the place of robotics, and people have figured out ways to cut corners due to the shortages of items at different times--and gas at all times. Used to this way of life, people become ignorant to the allocation of funds to Operation X, which has used ten years to develop a method of brainwash that has so far proven foolproof. Each expendable test subject brings them a step closer to creating the power boosters, and an even darker world lay on the horizon for the ostracized mutants as their friends disappear--and sometimes reappear as their enemies. It forces most to head for the Broken City, as dubbed by those who founded it, a mostly underground city that looks worse than the world surrounding it but works enough to keep them alive.

True Sin: a True Blood RPG [25 Sep 2009|04:46pm]
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

With the advent of synthetic blood and the Great Revelation, the world was introduced to vampires "coming out of their coffins" in droves. Some accepted them, others reviled them, and then there are those who became irrevocably drawn to the world of vampires, blood-drinkers and immortals.

In Chicago, the vampire-hating Fellowship of the Sun has just set up a new mega-church, supported by a misguided and naive mayoral candidate. The vampire sheriffs are none too pleased with this development, and people on both sides are worried that a war is imminent in a city known for its denizens who make up their own rules. Considering Chicago's dark history of political and personal corruption, this latest chapter in the city's saga could very well change the landscape of the Midwest for years to come.

There are two vampire sheriffs in Chicago, and they oversee much of the undead activity within the Windy City. How vampires interact amongst themselves will play as big a role in shaping the supernatural landscape of the city as the undead interacting with other supernatural beings and humans as a whole. The presence of vampires, now common knowledge, could prove advantageous on several fronts, including -- but not limited to -- the city's political battlefields.

Drop Box/FAQ ~ Premises ~ Rules ~ Application ~ Wanted/Hold Characters ~ Taken Characters

[info]fated_times is calling for all Heroes, Villains, and the in-between in the Heroes fandom.

Come join us in the year 2014, with hopes of creating an even stronger military force, Sylar locates a child with a very special power and in attempts to use and control it he nearly kills the girl and disrupts the time space continuum, causing people to appear from different times both in the past and future all throughout the world. And people’s fears of these new people seem to be very well rooted – an overwhelming majority of these new people have abilities.

The world is in disarray, the things that President Petrelli has vouched for and tried so hard to show others that he make a reality are falling apart and the world is reluctant to rally behind him. Now is the time for a resistance to surge, but will there be someone who would dare to oppose President Petrelli? The world is waiting for a hero, and beginning to suspect that the villains aren’t the ones they’ve always been expecting. Where will their allegiance lie when the cards have fallen? No one is certain, but the only thing that people can decipher is that these are fated times.

We dare you to see how your character will prevail?

OC and AU children from Heroes lineup are also welcome.

Between Heaven and Hell is a post-apocalyptic Supernatural- verse game, set three years following the season four finale. We welcome all surviving canon characters, as well as originals.
It's the end of the world.

The Mayans predicted it. So did Nostradamus, the Hopi Indians, and countless others through the centuries. The methods were all different: some believed it would be caused by humanity, by wars and technology. Others believed it would simply be an inevitability of nature: the sun finally going supernova and taking Earth with it. Still others believed it would be God's work. A new beginning for the righteous and eternal suffering for the wicked.

In some ways, they were all right. And they were all so terribly wrong.

No one, not even the true religious fanatics, could have believed something so simple as killing a demon could unleash Hell on earth -- but it did. Oh, not in the way anyone expected: there were no rains of fire, no rivers of blood. The sun still rises every morning and sets every night. The End came quietly in the night, a wave of demons that left pure destruction in their wake.

It's been three years since the door to Lucifer's prison opened. Millions are dead, and most of civilization lies in ruins. But the few that remain aren't quite ready to give up humanity's grip on the world. Hunters have banded together for the first time in recorded history, and they're not alone. They have help from on high, but the question on everyone's mind is:

Will it be enough?
