[27 Aug 2009|01:53am] A laid-back, mature X-Men RPG. By the time xculpation begins in August 2009 Charles Xavier's School for the Gifted will have been open one year. Some adult residents may have been there longer, as starting in January 2004 Charles, with government permission, began to train the X-Men as an experiment in mutant involvement in law enforcement. It was believed that in the event of a mutant going criminal it would be useful to have other mutants ready and willing to get involved to apprehend them. There have been fairly few instances of that, all comparatively minor - a couple of bank robberies, some car theft, street robberies. The X-Men have more usually been called in as re-enforcements during riots, protests, or major events (parades, inaugurations etc.) In the US, since 2003, the Mutant Equality Act has ensured that mutant citizens are protected from discrimination the same as any other minority group. The government has also built facilities that house mutant prisoners, though wherever possible they are kept in the general population. Xavier's School opened in time for Fall semester 2008 to meet the needs of mutant children who, as well as their academic requirements, had power control to learn. It exists as a high school, covering grades 9-12, and as of Fall 2009 has started to teach Freshman and Sophomore college classes. Younger children needing help with their powers attend regular school, where possible, and are homeschooled in the evenings or at weekends by members of Xavier's faculty to travel to them for the purpose. The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants has not at gamestart been founded. Whether it will be will be decided entirely by the characters. How dramatic things get is entirely up for you. *** xculptation is set up to be a relaxed, mature RPG that allows players to explore characters without needing to be concerned about canonic plots being foisted on them. Just because you choose to play Shadowcat doesn't mean you need to factor in relationships with Colossus or Pete Wisdom, you're not going to set up a happy story arc only to have it smashed down by the Legacy Virus or similar. Here you can explore a character and help them find their own path through interactions with others. We're intended to be entirely character and player driven, with each player and character being as involved as they choose to be. You can also pitch your character at any point in their life; Magneto does not have to be a contemporary of Charles, Julian Keller could be older than Scott Summers. Canonic backstory does not have to be used verbatim though there should be a flavor of it in their in-game history. It's down to each player how they want to set up the character, so long as they keep to three conditions: 1) Any regular canonic siblings remain (though parent/child relationships can be amended. Rachel Summers could be Jean Gray's cousin if Jean is taken as younger character, for example) 2) The spirit of the character should remain (Emma Frost wouldn't be a poverty stricken fluff ball) 3) The character's powers should be taken from their canonic powers, though you do not have to retain all canonic powers if you do not wish to. There is no update rule, and while we have fairly standard rules our most important condition is that you consider your fellow players and when possible let them know if your reps will be slow or you'll have to go on hiatus so they can plan around your absence. We also ask is that you make an effort to check in regularly and reply to anything directed to your characters, and participate in threads/logs when you can. Plot will be developed through character interaction, and mod generated plot will not be foisted upon you. In fact mod generated plot will only be instigated at players' request. The message was of a confusing nature, announcing an alumni celebration for Harry's graduating class. Their presence was requested back at Hogwarts, saying they were to be accompanied by the surviving staff from their year. Intrigued, Ginny quickly sent an owl to Hermione, cementing her suspicions that it wasn't just a rouse to get Harry out in the open. It seems as though there were invitations going out to everyone in their class. After much convincing, Harry finally caved and agreed to attend the celebration with his wife. On the night of the ball, everyone arrived at Hogwarts with high expectations. Getting to reconnect with old friends and Ron Weasley was even enjoying the thought of getting in a good tussle with Draco Malfoy now that he could swing a good punch or two. The Great Hall was decorated for a beautiful occasion, and all the girls who arrived were in awe. They mingled for a while, thinking it odd that none of the staff were there before them. It was only once the former faculty arrived, looking rather lost and confused, themselves that confusion and worry began to arise. However, they weren't left much time to panic. The minute Minerva McGonagall set foot in the room, being the last of the staff to arrive, the doors slammed shut, locking them all inside. With a large whirl, they were drawn from the time, itself. Landing in a grimy street seconds later, many of the former students wretched on the pavement after the violent travel. Looking around, they found themselves face-to-face with an unfamiliar world. What stood before them, looming like a lion about to feast, stood Britain. It was in ruins. There were scarce buildings to be seen and most of the streets seemed to be doused in blood. Scared and suddenly alone, the group trudged on to see what horror awaited them. The Other Side is an alternate universe Harry Potter post DH game. Stranded in an unfamiliar world, they come to the realization that there has never been a Lord Voldemort, here. He is more commonly known in this world as just plain old Tom Riddle, right hand man to she-who-must-not-be-named: Bellatrix Lestrange. The world has been run down since in her hands, and now they are stuck living amongst the miserable people already living under her rule. However, interests peak when they realize that they are accompanied by the Class of '78, including most of their parents. The only problem is, they're just as lost and confused as the rest of them. And, with Bellatrix's henchmen hunting them down and tagging them like animals, what are they supposed to do to get home? Some "Guests", as they name them, choose to try and join her army to save their own tails, whilst others try and plan a means in which to attack. Their theory: they did it once, they can do it again! Maybe you're just waking up on a dreary Monday morning. Maybe you're rocking your child to sleep. Then, all of a sudden, there is a flash of light, a roaring noise, and then... Nothing. You wake up in a lavish, unfamiliar bedroom; there is a knock on the door and in comes a house elf, huge eyes and batlike ears and all, with a tray of your favorite breakfast foods. The sun is shining down on a beautiful morning in a place you've never seen before. What happened to you? Where did your life go? And how do you get it back? The Manor is a panfandom RPG, dedicated to encouraging character development and relationships based around plot arcs designed by the moderators. Your character is taken out of their lives at any point, even after their deaths, and dropped into a place cobbled together from bits and pieces of buildings from across the various universes. You never know when you'll take a turn and enter the Parthenon, or the brig of a Starfleet vessel. You are housed with people of your own kind: if you are a heroic character, you are situated near the rooms of the other heroes. A villain? You're with your murderous pals in another wing of the Manor. But how can life in this frightening place compare to the one you had? How can you befriend these unkind strangers? That's where They come in. The Ladies of the Manor, the Mistresses of the House, the Deadly Duo, the Raving Rulers. They are the White Witch Jadis, ruler of Narnia, and Lady Mary Van Tassel, summoner of the Headless Horseman. They stay in their tower, look down on the Manor, and make changes in your life. They might decide one day that you need some romance, and spike your drink and that of another person in the Manor so that you fall hopelessly in love for about a week. Maybe they want you to make a few enemies, so they make sure you get lost in the villains' wing. And maybe they decide that you've gotten too uppity, and need to spend a little time dead.
