[13 Jun 2009|08:48am] THIS MESS WE'RE IN: a post-513 queer as folk game In April 2005 the bonds of a family were stretched and twisted and frayed by time and distance - but these bonds were too strong to break. Now, over four years later, not much has changed within the extended family unit that had materialized in the Pittsburgh area over the past many years. Liberty Avenue is still a bustling, blooming gayborhood within the metropolis, Debbie Novotny is still playing Mother Hen from her nest in the diner, her son is still happily "married" to a intelligent Carnegie prof, and their adopted son is taking on the world, one college course at a time. And the antihero of all antiheroes? He's still around, tragically as successful and good-looking as ever, working to hold all the frays of the past few years together, if quietly. Elsewhere, two successful women are raising a family outside of the country, and the most infamous member of the past-Pittsburgh Twink Brigade is seemingly constantly en   route within the 350 miles between Pittsburgh and NYC. If only he could decide where to replant his roots permanently. Meanwhile, outside of the steel capital of the world, America is undergoing major renovation. With a new presidential administration comes hope for the ever-proud LGBT community, but the recent passing of Proposition 8 in California might prove to be disastrous for the progressive movement, even on the opposite coast. Political tensions are high, lives are continuing even in the midst of the nostalgia for the beginning of the new millennium, and this family is still struggling to include all of each other within their busy schedules. This Mess We're in is a post-513 roleplaying community based on the hit Showtime series Queer As Folk, and looking for fans of the cancelled show to continue the legacy of the well-developed characters we've been missing for three lost seasons. You wait for the dust to settle, and then you choose. You can live in the wreckage and pretend it's still the mansion you remember. Or you can crawl from the rubble and slowly rebuild. Because after disaster strikes, the important thing is that you move on.”-Veronica Mars Seven years ago, the Dark Lord Voldemort fell, finally bringing an end to his vicious reign of power and terror. Yet, the war did not end with his death. For years, the Wizarding World has worked to repair the damages left during the aftermath of war. Emotional burdens have yet to fully heal, too many lives destroyed, families torn apart, and friends lost. Hogwarts was left in rubble, unable to reopen for years, the damage too great, endless sweat and tears shed as people worked to rebuild the foundations to give their children a future. Death Eaters still roam free, cunningly avoiding even the best Aurors, leaving many in fear that another war will be on the horizon. As things begin to resemble some semblance of normalcy, an old follower of Voldemort is in the wings, plotting his revenge, gathering the remaining Death Eaters and new followers, planning to unleash a new war, wanting to finish his master’s vision. In the Ministry, a serial killer is murdering powerful political figures, leaving everyone pointing fingers and letting things slip through the cracks. Fenrir Greyback has escaped from Azkaban, butchering countless individuals as he runs from Aurors, gathering and making new werewolves in his travels, gathering an army to strike against the Ministry. All the while, the Muggle World is at war, affecting the Wizarding World as it heightens. The world is in complete chaos. Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt is determined to rebuild the Wizarding Community into a vision of peace and has called forth some of the best Aurors from around the world in an effort to clean up the United Kingdom, determined to capture and imprison the remaining Death Eaters and send a clear message of constant vigilance to those seeking to do more harm. Many are unhappy with the Minister’s plans, many seeking to replace him and other important individuals, some willing to go to great lengths to achieve their goals. The Wizarding World is torn between fully recovering and moving forward and taking two steps back, arriving right back where they left off seven years ago. A new war is on the brink, which side will you choose? Recuperatio is a canon, non-epilogue compliant game taking place in 2005. Game opened June 06, 2009. [13 Jun 2009|05:19pm] Many years ago, when people still believed in myths and legends, it was told that the gods created immortal beings, much like themselves. They shaped them into beautiful and powerful beings with many talents who would go on to lead mankind on the right course. The gods would remain in the heavens where they were supposed to be, and the immortals would be earthbound. They were created from the same mold, split into two by mighty thunderbolts. No one suspected the effect it would have on the immortal beings. The separation left both of them with a desperate yearning to be reunited because they shared the same soul. They would spend the rest of their lives searching for the other half of their soul, no matter the time or the distance. Whenever a pair of immortals got close to each other physically, their powers would cease to exist and they would become mortal. It was a loophole in their divine fate as leaders of humanity. This was their chance to settle down and live out their lives as normal human beings and some took the chance they had been blessed with. Yet there were those who had no desire to find their missing half, and were ruled by greed and power instead of this longing for love. Many became warlords, thirsty for money and gold. Much blood was shed during these times and the gods finally stepped in to stop what they had created. Soon after, the gods and angels of old disappeared. Mankind continued to wage war upon one another in their searching for domination, just as their former immortal leaders had done. Hundreds of years have passed, and now some of the immortals are beginning to reemerge. Many have traveled the world in search of their other half, and some are still looking to gain the promise and worship they've always thought they deserved. A rogue group, in escalating numbers, led by the oldest of the immortals, is looking to declare war upon humanity. There are no more gods to rope them in and keep them in check, so some of the remaining immortals have picked up arms to fight against them. After witnessing a death at their school where a missing pupil was found at his desk, characters begin investigating these rumours. They later realize that they can walk through doorways as a gateway to enter a seemingly utopian world infested with Shadows.
